Mining Polymer

Mining operations face persistent challenges that directly impact efficiency, safety, and profitability. Excessive moisture in ores leads to adhesion on conveyor belts, coal bunker clogging, and even creates severe risks during bulk shipping due to cargo liquefaction. At the same time, dust pollution remains one of the most critical hazards in mining sites, threatening worker health and undermining safe production. Additionally, large volumes of drilling mud and sludge occupy valuable space, complicate handling, and increase disposal costs.

  • High Moisture Content – Increases transportation weight and cost

  • Leakage Risk – Liquids can spill during handling or seep into soil and waterways

  • Environmental Regulations – Strict compliance required to prevent contamination

  • On-Site Limitations – Traditional drying or dewatering methods are slow and space-intensive

These combined issues create significant operational and environmental burdens, demanding an integrated and reliable solution. Failure to manage these wastes effectively can lead to environmental hazards, project delays, and regulatory penalties.

Our Solution:ORESORB™

Dust suppression: creates a moisture-retentive gel layer that binds fines, helping cut dust by ~30–60% (per script context), extending reapplication intervals.

Ore surface dewatering: SAP absorbs excess moisture from the surface of the ore, making the coal slime less sticky and preventing the formation of coal bunker wall adhesion in advance without affecting the coal quality; it can reduce the problem of ore sticking to the conveyor belt due to excessive humidity, thereby improving work efficiency; it can also reduce the risk of wet ore slipping during transportation and causing the cargo ship to capsize.

Sludge/drilling mud solidification: agglomerates and encapsulates fines and water into a cohesive mass with low expansion (~1% volume increase), simplifying cleanup and transport.

Tailings/rheology control: tunes viscosity and yield stress to reduce segregation/settling and support water recovery in closed-loop systems.

Localized dehumidification: used as desiccant packs, coatings, or sealants to build moisture-resistant barriers in critical zones, complementing mechanical systems with lower energy use.

Key Advantages

  • Ultra-high water absorption: up to 500× its own weight in water.

  • Saline performance: approx. 70× in 1% NaCl and 16× in 0.5% CaCl solutions.

  • Fast kinetics: rapid absorption to full saturation.

  • Safety: non-toxic, non-corrosive, environmentally friendly.

  • Customization: grades and formulations tailored to site conditions and targets.

FAQs

  • How fast does OreSorb® solidify liquid mining waste?

OreSorb® can absorb and immobilize free liquids in under 1 minute for pure water and within seconds to minutes for most mining waste streams, enabling quick on-site handling.

  • Is the product environmentally safe?

Absolutely. OreSorb® is non-toxic, free from heavy metals, and certified by ISO9001, SGS, and BV, for environmental safety and biodegradability.

  • How does using OreSorb® reduce operational costs?

By rapidly solidifying waste, OreSorb® eliminates the need for large settling ponds, heavy mechanical dewatering, and multiple handling steps, cutting both labor and transport costs.

  • What types of waste can OreSorb® be used for?

It is effective on mine tailings, drilling mud, contaminated slurry, tunneling waste, industrial sludge, and other high-moisture byproducts.

  • How are mining chemicals used in water treatment within the mining sector?

Mining chemicals play a crucial role in water treatment processes, serves as a sludge conditioner and binder in water treatment, facilitating the solidification of sludge. When introduced into wastewater containing sludge, SOCO polymer interacts with the sludge particles, promoting agglomeration and encapsulation. This results in the formation of a more cohesive and solid mass.

  • Can these chemicals be customized for specific mining requirements?

Yes, suppliers often offer customization options for mining chemicals, tailoring formulations to meet specific needs related to dust control, freeze prevention, friction reduction, rheology modification, and water treatment.
